Research Fellow in Digital Innovation at University of Melbourne

[CURRENT] I am a Research Fellow in Digital Media Innovation at School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Melbourne, mentored by Prof. Taehyun Rhee. My current research is centered on advancing immersive and interactive experiences in Extended Reality, leveraging prior expertise in computer graphics and computer vision. Specifically, my work addresses high-fidelity content creation for Mixed Reality, large-scale 3D scene reconstruction with real-time navigation, and human–scene interaction.

[PAST] I was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Computer Graphics Department at Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik, advised by Prof. Karol Myszkowski and Prof. Hans-Peter Seidel. Prior to that, I obtained my Ph.D. degree from City University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Miuling Lam. During this period, my research was devoted to advancing graphics and vision techniques for computational photography, with an emphasis on neural refocusing and deblurring methods, as well as the development of glass-free 3D immersive display technologies.

[Short Bio] My research focuses on digital innovation at the intersection of computer graphics, computer vision, artificial intelligence, and extended reality (XR). I am particularly interested in developing immersive and interactive systems, including generative AI, 3D scene reconstruction, eye tracking, 3D display technology and inverse imaging techniques, to advance visual computing technologies and support next-generation human - machine interaction.

I have published first-author papers in top venues such as SIGGRAPH (computer graphic), CVPR (computer vision), IEEE ISMAR (mixed reality), with my CVPR 2022 work recognized as a Best Paper Award Finalist (Top 0.4%). I serve as a reviewer for over 20 leading conferences and journals, and currently sit on the program committee for Pacific Graphics and the Technical Program Committee for SIGGRAPH Asia 2025.
